The Academy

At Sound Engineering Academy, we are not just creating Sound Engineers we are molding human minds to become world class Audio Professionals and for that we have to guide ourselves through some unexplored paths.

In our constant endeavor to improve ourselves and to provide students a very vibrant learning atmosphere, we introduce innovative concepts and change our training methodologies in every batch.

A new concept of conducting regular classes outside the campus has been introduced to our current batch.

For that academy has spotted several locations / places of historical significance within the city limits and our faculties will be taking regular sessions in these places.

These classroom sessions is named as ‘Floating Campus’.

This would be a new and unique approach in media collage in India.

Beyond the historical significance of the spots which are already been identified, the locations will be having some prominence with regard to Sound / Acoustics .

In a way, these off-campus sessions will help students to grasp more by experiencing what they have been taught.

There will be 1 regular session a week , which will be held outside the campus.

The first week session was held in a circular auditorium in Kanakakunnu Palace near Vellayambalam, Trivandrum and students were very much enthusiastic about the session.

Students have shared the opinion that it was novel experience and pointed out that they are eagerly looking forward for the future sessions to be conducted in varied settings and contexts.

Academy has commenced the Floating Campus program with a strong belief that these type of off-campus classes will help students to appreciate the benefits of learning and stimulate thought on integrating those things which they are grasping during the sessions in their professional life.

movie-review

As part of our monthly movie review session, this time we have screened an Indian Classic for our students of Diploma in Sound Engineering.

Usually we screen Indian as well as world classics alternatively in our movie review sessions in which students will be taking notes about the movie and express their opinion as a note.

The students are free to express whatever be their opinion about the movie. If criticism is raised, then they have to support it with facts.

These type of movie review session will help the students to evaluate various aspects of the movie.

The session actually helps to analyze the mechanics of the movie  and interpret the various components that came together in the movie with special outlook on Sound Engineering, Music Recording, Background Score etc.

In the review note the students are supposed to gather general facts about the movie and judge whether the film reflect on a current event or contemporary issue? Does the film seem to have a message, or does it attempt to elicit a specific response or emotion from the audience? Does the film connect with you on a personal level?

Tips for those students who are writing a review

1) Keep your writing clear and easy to understand.
2) Don’t use too much technical filmmaking jargon, and make your language crisp and accessible.
