Today we are introducing, Tanmoy Saha an SEA Alumni who cherished the dream to become a Sound Engineer in the Movie Industry and became one.

A motivated audio engineer with a true love for all things sonic, Tanmoy has worked as Location Sound Recordist, Sfx, Dubbing Engineer, Sound Editor, Ambience Designer, Foley Recordist.

Tanmoy is proficient in Analog as well as Digital equipment, who has got a deep understanding about Acoustics and the nature of Sound, he has worked for 8 Bengali Feature Film Projects and several Bengali Short Films as well as Documentary Movies in the past one and a half years.

Passionate about audio production and post-production in all capacities, Tanmoy Saha has joined Aural Workstation in Kolkatta, West Bengal in the month of September 2016 after completing his 1-year Diploma in Sound Engineering Course from Sound Engineering Academy.

While talking with Tamony regarding the career life he pointed out that joining SEA for the Diploma course is a turning point in his life and thanked the academy for paving a way for achieving his dream to become a Film Sound Engineer.

Tanmoy Saha, who is more of a Sound Artist rather than a Sound Engineer has joined the academy after completing his Masters in Philosophy from Jadavpur Univesity, West Bengal.

Just like many who join the academy, Tanmoy was also having a long-standing standing dream to become a Sound Engineer and his wish to start an exuberant career in the field of Sound Engineering got fulfilled when he joined the Academy.

After completing the course in the year 2016, he has joined Aural Workstation, which had provided him the opportunity to test those skills which have gained during the course.

According to Tamoy, his 1 and half year’s association with the studio was more of a learning experience rather than a job.

During his tenure with studio he was assigned with diverse jobs related with movie sound like Recording vocals and instruments, Dubbing for feature and short films, Sound Editing (Sound fx and ambiance track lay) for feature films and short films, Foley recording and Foley editing for feature films, short films and documentary movies etc.

It is a universal fact that “Whichever career you pursue, being passionate plays a pivotal role to achieve success“.

With regard to Tanmoy, being a passionate Sound Engineer and a person who strives for excellence in this career he has gained ample exposure in,
Setting up all equipment for recording of vocals and any instruments in studio and live sound events.
Quick troubleshooting service and Audio Cable repair skills (for this he is grateful to the audio electronics sessions during the diploma course)
Technical abilities on Installation of studio setup as well as Live concerts.
Good understanding of Miking to record any kind of instrument in a studio as well as in Live concerts according to the tech riders.
Ability to do any kind of sound post-production work in any stage on Protools etc.

As you know the admission for the 27th batch for the Diploma in Sound Engineering and Sound Recording is going on in the academy and we are receiving queries from students from all parts of India.

When people get in touch with our admission section, we used to mention that our 1 year diploma course is uniquely designed to cover 4 major areas in sound engineering like Live Sound Reinforcement, Audio for Film, Music production and Broadcasting.

As per our experience majority of the students who have completed the course found their job in 4 respective fields stated above and that is the reason why we are emphaising on those areas.

While talking about broadcasting, many students are doubtful about the career oportunities in the field and asks about the role of Sound Engineers in the field.

You might be wondering why we are talking about this, today we are talking about an alumni student who is working with a community radio as Senior Broadcasting Engineer and revealing the fact that there are immense career opportunities in the field of Broadcasting.

Today we are introducing an alumni student, Aravind NR, who is working as Senior Broadcasting Engineer in Radio Mangalam.

Passed out of the academy in the year 2010 Aravind has worked with production services, recording studios and television channels before embarking on a career in the field of Radio Broadcasting.

When we called him he was on his way to his office and was quite enthusiastic in sharing details about his career.

Being a alumini student who recommends the diploma course from the academy to those who are looking forward to learn sound engineering and person who is in touch with several passed out students, we asked him about what he found peculiar about the academy.

Comparing the students passing out of other institutes with SEA students he has pointed that the students passing out of the academy is a true sound engineers who can work in any field related to audio rather than a person who just knows some sound editing softwares.

Sharing his view on the diploma course he said that the course is designed in such a way that a person with no basic knowledge in sound engineering can become a professional in just 1 year and all they need is the passion for the subject, commited effort to learn more and the willingness to try new technologies.

Aravind has told that the course has helped in developing a strong career in the field and it has laid the base for working with radio stations and stated that the topics included in the syllabus like audio electronics has helped him a lot during the job he is well versed i asembling audio cabled based on international and industry standards.

An audio engineer with expertise in PROTOOLS, NEUNDO, ADOBE AUDITION, SOUND FORGE & STATION PLAYLIST PRO ( Broadcasting Software), he mentioned that the course and experience he gained has provided him the confidence to setup and run a community radio station.

As mentioned earlier Aravind is now working with Radio Mangalam (a community radio being transmitted from Kottayam, Kerala and having its signal reach in parts of adjacent districts like Ernakulam, Idukki, Alleppey). The FM is now available via Android / IOS apps and according to aravind the official website of the radio channel will be launched soon.

Arvaind has completed an year with the the current organisation and previously he was working with Ahalia Voice 90.4 FM, Palakkad as Assistant Broadcasting Engineer.

After completing the course Aravind has completed a 3 months training in Months in Highbrow Production Services [Hyderabad] and later on joined Jaihind TV (Malayalam Infotainment Channel)

Arvaind had also worked as a Sound Engineer in R&S Digital, Chadayamangalam (Audio Recording Studio) as a Sound Engineer before joining Ahalia Voice 90.4 FM.

Now working Faculty in AAT Media College Chennai and freelancing live/mixing engineer, Sajin A Stanly passed out of the academy after completing the diploma course in the year February 2011.

Talking about the academy Sajin said that SEA has laid a strong foundation for me to develop my career in the field of Sound Engineering. With the distinct quality of training imparted by the academy, it is effortless for me to get adapted with any type of consoles within a short span of time.

About his career, Sajin is working with the alternator rock band named ‘Gorillas In Groove‘ as an in-house audio engineer and he told that his passion for Sound Engineering and Music started during his childhood and started working as freelance sound engineer since he was 14 years of age. Sajin has joined the academy to learn advanced topics about Sound Engineering and he expressed his gratitude towards the training he received from the academy during the talk.

The SEA Alumini had associated with Shreya Ghoshal, Keba Jeremiah, Mohiney Dey, and with several south Indian playback singers for various music recording projects in the past 5 to 6 years.

Sajin got the opportunity to work with western classical choirs during their live performance and worked in Christian devotional choir albums and band albums. As recording engineer Sajin has worked with Vashmi Studio, Kritis Digital Solutions in Chennai.

Speaking about the work with the rock band, Sajin said that the band is having regular music tour programs  he is able to manage the audio system in any venue irrespective of its size, as he is a trained professional.

Talking about the syllabus of Diploma in Sound Engineering and Sound Recording course from the academy, Sajin has pointed out that it has been framed in such a way that those who are not aware of the basics of Sound Engineering can easily grasp topics in an easy manner and can become an audio professional with 1 year training in the academy.

Sajin has added that the practical sessions provided by the academy and the 3 major projects in 1 in music production, other in live sound reinforcement and another one in the field of audio for film has helped him to better understand and tackle real-life situations.
