Don’t you feel dispirited if you sit in the same class studying the same subject for 1 year.
It is quite obvious that students will loose their enthusiasm by coming to same campus everyday and attending the sessions in the same atmosphere.
As an academy we can’t change the location of the academy or change the existing infrastructure.
What the academy can do is to update the syllabus and improve our training methodologies by bringing in new concepts.
Considering the fact an innovative step has been taken by the academy to keep the enthusiasm of learning Sound Engineering in a differnet way rather in a different atmosphere.
Addressing the need of students to make learning a stress-free process and to boost the morale of students we have initiated an activity by shifting the regular class session outdoors.
As mentioned in one of the previous blog it is named as ‘SEA Floating Campus‘ and the activity is going to continue in the coming weeks as well.
The second session of the Floating Campus has been organised in picturesque garden in the vicinage of Kanakakunnu Palace near Vellayambalam, Trivandrum.
Like in the first session of the floating campus the theory class has been handled by our senior faculty Mr. K.S Ravi.
Academy has identified several locations like Parks, Hillstations, Beaches in and around trivandrum city to conduct upcoming session of Floating Campus.
Students and well wishers of the academy is urged to share their perspective about the sessions and provide tips on how to improve the activity as comments below.
Thanks for reading and Happy Sound Engineering.
At Sound Engineering Academy, we are not just creating Sound Engineers we are molding human minds to become world class Audio Professionals and for that we have to guide ourselves through some unexplored paths.
In our constant endeavor to improve ourselves and to provide students a very vibrant learning atmosphere, we introduce innovative concepts and change our training methodologies in every batch.
A new concept of conducting regular classes outside the campus has been introduced to our current batch.
For that academy has spotted several locations / places of historical significance within the city limits and our faculties will be taking regular sessions in these places.
These classroom sessions is named as ‘Floating Campus’.
This would be a new and unique approach in media collage in India.
Beyond the historical significance of the spots which are already been identified, the locations will be having some prominence with regard to Sound / Acoustics .
In a way, these off-campus sessions will help students to grasp more by experiencing what they have been taught.
There will be 1 regular session a week , which will be held outside the campus.
The first week session was held in a circular auditorium in Kanakakunnu Palace near Vellayambalam, Trivandrum and students were very much enthusiastic about the session.
Students have shared the opinion that it was novel experience and pointed out that they are eagerly looking forward for the future sessions to be conducted in varied settings and contexts.
Academy has commenced the Floating Campus program with a strong belief that these type of off-campus classes will help students to appreciate the benefits of learning and stimulate thought on integrating those things which they are grasping during the sessions in their professional life.
Expanding the lineup of expert sessions by the academy, the 3 day training session by Rahul Samuel has revolutionized the approach of students towards Live Sound Reinforcement.
Aimed at those students who are interested to learn more about Live Sound, the topics covered and concepts introduced during the training has made the live sound reinforcement job to a more fascinating one.
Continuing the training from the second day, the whole session was a unique blend of both theory and practicals in which more prominence was given to practicals on the 3rd day.
Intriguing sessions by Rahul Samuel on various Live Sound topics has helped the students to acquire those skills to make their job a lot easier in the real world.
The unique way of imparting the technicalities of Live Sound to students by the trainer deserves the highest commendation. Moreover his active engagement with students during their practical sessions needs a special mention as well.
Same as the previous day sessions there were a set of topics which where covered and here are those covered on the third day : System Design, Rigging, System Tuning, Sound Check, Running a Show, Tear Down Safely.
Started with Sound Mixing and Mastering session by Prasanth Valsaji in the previous week, the 3 day training session on live sound is a part of our on-going series of “expert sessions” to be conducted in the coming weeks exclusively for students of Diploma in Sound Engineering.
