Photo Exhibition of Mr.Balashankar Mannath named as ‘Kusuma Chethana‘ was a novel visual experience for the people of Trivandrum. The photographer Balashankar, an interesting personality who captured a beguiling mixture of tropical flowers which we see in our daily life portrayed it in the avant-garde exhibition held in the Russian Cultural Centre.
The exhibition was inaugurated by the legendary movie maker, Adoor Gopalakrishan. During the inaugural speech the ace film director has stated that our Kerala culture is having great affinity to flowers and now days children are not going out to pluck flowers even during Onam celebrations. In the earlier days children used to go to places near their homes and gather flowers to make flower carpets for Onam. It was during that time children used to get acquainted with the nature and flowers.
He also cited that almost all the festivals has been commercialized and that makes the kids abstain from the nature and doesn’t show any kindness towards nature.
The exhibition which showcased vibrant photos of tropical flowers has definitely enlightened the children about the bio-diversity which we possess.
The exhibition ended on 4th of this month.
